#REPORTER

Key Responsibilities

• To source, gather and report newsworthy events.
• To attend events and gather necessary details in order to produce an informative and well balanced news piece.
• To develop relationships with the community and maintain an up to date contact book in order to ensure effective local news.
• Liaise and discuss with fellow reporters, editors and photographers in order to work together to produce a good article.

Pre- Requisites

• Minimum of good ‘A’ levels or its equivalent.
• Other certificates related to the field of journalism will be considered.
• Good communication skills in English and Malay (verbal and written). Knowledge of extra languages is an asset.
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good integrity, confident and has self discipline.
• Ability to motivate oneself and others.
• Independent yet a good team player.
• Determined, driven and tenacious in work.

Do you have an eye for detail? Can you enhance and develop a story?

#COPY EDITORS

Responsibilities:

• Must have a keen eye to detect mistakes and add value to the copy.
• Writing creative and lively headlines and photo captions.
• Willing to work really hard to meet deadlines.
• Able to coordinate with reporters, photographers, designers and other editorial staffs.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in any field.
• Excellent command of English, (native speakers preferred).

#SUB-EDITORS

Responsibilities:

• To assist the Editor in copytasting and selecting stories. Checking for accuracy and legality of stories and ensuring stories are free from defamation, slander and libel.
• Design pages and edit copy according to Brunei Time’s housestyle, adhering to the editorial policy of The Brunei Times.
• To assist the editor in coordinating with graphic artists in the design of pages.

Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in any field.
• At least 3 years experience as a Sub-Editor.
• Highly IT literate and willing to learn.
• A team player and is able to adapt to the cultural and religious sensitivities of Brunei Darussalam.
